We've seen a growing number of 'online only' architects recently. Their service doesn't tend to include a site visit or face to face consultation and clients are asked to provide their own measurements.

In our opinion, the initial site consultation and measured survey is the single most important part of the design process.

The consultation is key to enable us to understand the property in its context and identify the opportunities. Critically, it also allows us to identify any issues which may effect a design, such as the proximity of neighbouring properties, any trees which could influence the foundations, the position of existing drains, load-bearing structure, the list goes on.
